  1. I saw it, and all I could think was how bad I felt for the people involved. Strangely enough, I met a close friend of one of the writers and producers who, it seems, got major flack for panning his own film, blaming its failure on creative decisions by others who exercised their rights to have input against his wishes. Complicated stuff. I can’t imagine having, say, an editor whose input or decisions trumped my own. I don’t know that I’d feel comfortable putting my name on the book if I felt those decisions didn’t reflect my own intent. I guess I always look past the work to the person or people behind it, and feel for them (both when it flops and when it goes really well). Often, I’ll do my best to contact those people to connect and either encourage or congratulate. And a surprising amount of the time, they actually reply. Just another way to remember the real people behind all of these ventures.
